"When the cows are
lying down then it is going to rain." That is all well and good but if you
drive around the countryside you will often see the cows lying down in the
fields BUT it is brilliant sunshine. So this then raises several questions
If the saying is true and you see cows lying down
when the sun is shining then how far ahead can the cows predict
rain?
Is it minutes, hours or days?
Also you often see fields with cows in and some
are lying down and some are standing up. What is the weather going to do
then?
Does it mean that there are going to be
showers?
If there are more cows standing than lying then
are they intermittent showers?
If there are more cows lying down than standing is
that heavy showers?
Of course this then leads you to wonder whether
other animals have weather predicting capabilities.
Can sheep do the same or do they have a different
expertise?
Perhaps someone could do a PHd. on the
subject.
